I’ve starting thinking about my list of 10 Trends for 11. So far I’ve got…
Volatility
Rare Earth minerals
Stop-Go economics
Uncertainty
Decoupling (again…maybe)
Early days and will probably change them but they are a start.

I agree wholeheartedly with your pick on uncertainty. I’ve just completed some research on expat adjustment and uncertainty emerged as a very strong theme. And now that I’m aware of it I keep seeing that word everywhere!
Update!
I think there is something building around anti-internet sentiment, anti-Google (monopoly) and even anti-Apple (now Goliath not David) thinking. It’s not huge but it’s interesting.
And another one…
Top trend for 2011 is no obvious trend!
Vigilance (close to paranoia) coupled with Hope
Community spirit and closeness
Sustainability (beyond eco-awareness and green-washing)
Protectionism
not sure about rare Earth minerals – why?
1. Growth of population putting demand on resources generally.
2. Shift to ‘electronic’ lifestyles that require lithium and a bunch or rare earths
3. Rise of resource nationalism
Employment instability
Retro electronics (e.g. the Commodore 64 is going on sale for this Xmas)
Migration of paper books to ebooks
A few more…
Formality
Downward mobility
Digital disaffection
Anti-movement movements
(at least two will need explaining)
