This is a misleading stat (like 93.8% of stats). Take it in context – in my house we have 2 mobile phones, a router, a laptop, a PC, a television, XBox, Wii and DS that are connected to the Internet. That’s 9 devices straight away, just in my house.
Most traffic lights are being upgraded to have IP connectivity as well, and in London alone it feels like there’s 50 billion of the things.
I agree. I saw a figure of 1 trillion devices by 2014 from Cisco recently, so one or other is wildly off the mark!
